    Tororo city- and market tour


    Want to see Tororo's highlights in a couple of hours? 
    Get the full Tororo-experience in the company of Vincent, a local "Tororian" who knows his way around the city!

    Price: 15.000 per person for a tour of 2-3 hours.

    What you will see: 
    At the Fish Market

    Tororo Market

    Experience the fish market or see the live animals. Buy locally produced souvenirs far away from the professional Arts-and crafts shops – bowls and mats made out of banana leaves, claypots for cooking, handmade kitchen ustensils etc. 

    Experience the many small and ultra-local restaurants inside the marketplace or get lost around the many second-hand clothes shops. 

    Tororo Market is a real local and happening marketplace with a lot to offer!

    Tororo City 

    Vincent will take you for a tour around the city, showing you the city center, Rock High, the church and the famous Yes' Workshop - a growing business and a good example of how Tororo is trying to prosper. 

    Alice's Place
    Finish your tour with a nice, local meal at Alice's Place (also known as Friend's restaurant). High quality food paired with friendly service and good prices. If you need a break from the city noise and bustle, Vincent can also tak you to Hyena's Cave - a quiet oasis in the middle of the city. 

    Rock-climbing-tour 
    The worshipping cave at Tororo Rock
     
    Challenge your thigh-muscles on the Tororo Rock! The rock is the signature of Tororo and you can see it from far away. When reaching the top you will be able to see the Osokuru Hills, Mount Elgon and even get a look into Kenya.

    The rock houses groups of local monkeys and depending on the time of day, you will be able to see them. On the way you will also be able to visit the cave of Tororo Rock where locals come to worship God.

    Duration: App. 2-3 hours depending on your shape! 

    Price: 

    Entrance-fee and guide at the bottom (cave and showing the beginning of path to the top): 10.000 USH 
    Entrance fee and guide to the top (the guide will also carry water): 15.000 USH 
    Rock top-lunch – to be enjoyed when you reach the top (must be ordered the day before climbing): 10.000 USH. If you bring a guide to the top, the guide will carry the food. 

    Village-tour: Beautiful baboons and interesting Iolwa

    Helping Hands Secondary School 

    Want to experience a real African village? The you should treat yourself to the Iolwa-experience!

    We take you by 4x4 to the village, passing by a piece of forest where "our" baboons live. We bring bananas and you are guaranteed good close-up photos of these charming creatures (and old ugandan story goes, that these monkeys are people, who refused to pay their taxes!).

    When we have finished enjoying the apes, we continue by the dustroads, passing the trade center of Iolwa and continuing even further to visit the Helping Hands School project. Here you will learn about some of the challenges of teaching children in the rural areas and you will meet some of these dedicated teachers, who sacrifices a lot to give the children a better future. You will also get to see how the school is trying to cultivate farm-land in order to be able to feed the children for lunch and generate an income for the school. 

    Back at the trading center, lunch will be served.

    Since this tour requires a car, a minimum of 4 people should attend.

    Duration: 3-4 hours

    Price (including transport to the village): 70.000 Ush per person. Lunch: 5.000 Ush.    


    Visit Kasoli and the Helping Hands School

    Visit at Helping Hands Secondary School – the only secondary school in this area. And also the only one where children with few or no means can go to school, since the school does not charge school fees. A Hands of Hope project.
    Visit at tree-nursery and the slum area, where many young people are struggling for a brighter future - and learn about the work of Hands of Hope in this area
    Lunch or dinner (depending on your wishes) at a private family-house In Kasoli.

    Price: 
    Visit only: 15.000 USH per person
    Visit including lunch: 25.000 USH per person 
    Visit including dinner under the stars: 35.000 USH per person

    It is possible to buy mineral water (2500 Ush), soda (3000 ush) or beer (4000 ush) with dinner and lunch. The meals are made by the residents of the house and it is not possible to order specific meals. During dinner or lunch you will meet the residents and have a chat with them if you wish.
